Inpatient Psychiatrist for New Adult Services Program

Position Information The University of California, Riverside School of Medicine (UCR SOM), is recruiting two part-time Psychiatrists (up to 0.50 FTE each) to support the launch of the new View Hospital Adult Services Program, scheduled to open in July 2026. These positions will play a foundational role in supporting clinical operations, patient care, and the academic mission associated with the expansion of services at View Hospital. The physicians will contribute to the development of a high-quality clinical program while collaborating with faculty, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams. The successful candidate must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree, be board certified and/or eligible to practice in the State of California by the time of employment. Applicants must qualify for medical staff privileges at UCR Health and UCR affiliated hospitals. The full salary range for the Psychiatrist positions are: -Associate Physician Diplomate (board certified + 1 year exp): $163,400 - $400,300; expected pay scale for this position is up to $310,000 annually. -Associate Physician (board eligible + 1 year exp): $142,100 - $348,100; expected pay scale for this position is up to $290,000 annually. -Assistant Physician (board eligible): $123,500 - $302,600; expected pay scale for this position is up to $270,000 annually. These rates are annual rates at 100% FTE appointment and will be pro-rated based on appointment FTE %. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure, certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements. Requirements Educational Requirements Degree Possession of the education and legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance. Requirement Required Experience Requirements Experience UCR has three levels of physicians; all levels require completion of medical residency and are distinguished by board certification status and years of experience. Requirement Experience Junior Physician (Assistant) requires board eligibility and must successfully pass the board exam within 18 months of hire. Requirement Experience Physician (Associate) requires board eligibility and must successfully pass the board exam within 18 months of hire and must have a minimum of 1 year of experience post internship/residency. Requirement Experience Associate Physician Diplomate requires board certification and must have a minimum of 1 year of experience post internship/residency. Requirement Experience Must meet UC credentialing requirements. Requirement Experience Background and skills in clinical practice, clinical teaching, and managed care. Requirement Preferred Experience Experience in behavioral health inpatient and outpatient settings. Requirement Minimum Requirements Advanced communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with staff and patients from diverse ethnic/racial backgrounds, educational levels, sexual orientations and identities. Ability to stay abreast of new medical knowledge, and to maintain and increase expertise and skills as relevant to clinical practice. Ability to work independently under general direction and to work collaboratively with others. Preferred Qualifications Computer proficiency and first-hand experience in using electronic health records systems to document patient interactions and coordinate care.
