Assistant County Attorney

Assistant County Counsel (Unclassified) | County Counsel Location: Passaic County, New Jersey Type: Full Time Responsibilities The Office of the County Counsel provides legal representation, advice and assistance to the Board of County Commissioners, all county agencies, and constitutional officers. Assist in representing the County in various jurisdictions, including attending relevant meetings, conducting legal research, drafting legal opinions, motions, and other pleadings, and ensuring compliance with applicable statutes. Provide support in a fast-paced environment, addressing employment and personnel issues and adherence to the Local Public Contracts Law and other statutes governing county government. Represent the County in legal matters in venues such as Superior Court, Public Employment Relations Commission, Government Records Council, and Office of Administrative Law. Manage document production and depositions, interview witnesses, participate in conferences, motions, hearings, trials, and review discovery materials. Prepare and draft real estate closing documents and handle other property issues related to Passaic County facilities, park system, and roadways. Attend Commissioners Committee meetings and serve as a point of contact for legal questions from department heads; draft resolutions for consideration by the Commissioners Board. Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years. License: Valid NJ Driver’s License. Strong writing and analytical abilities; ability to address legal and policy matters in a critical manner.
