Field Engineer

We are seeking a capable Field Engineer to provide technical support, installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting services across a range of customer sites. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, project and service teams to ensure equipment and systems are installed safely, operate reliably and meet specified performance standards. This role will involve regular travel, hands-on problem solving and direct interaction with customers and site personnel.


Key responsibilities will include planning and carrying out site visits, installing and configuring equipment, conducting inspections, testing systems and completing commissioning activities. You will diagnose faults, identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions, escalating complex issues where required. The role also includes preparing service reports, maintaining accurate technical records, providing operating guidance to customers and supporting upgrade or improvement projects. You will be expected to follow approved procedures, risk assessments and permit requirements, while maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance. Some work may require flexibility regarding working hours, overnight stays or attendance at sites at short notice.


Applicants should have a relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience, together with experience in a field-based, commissioning, maintenance or technical support environment. Strong electrical, mechanical, control systems or instrumentation knowledge would be advantageous, depending on the equipment supported. You should be confident reading technical drawings, wiring diagrams and manuals, and using diagnostic tools and standard office software. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team. A methodical approach, customer-focused attitude, willingness to travel and full driving licence are required. Training will be provided where necessary, but candidates must demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and a commitment to continuous professional development.
