Custodial Services - Support Service Lead

Overview of Position Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Materials, Training and Utilities. Directs the daily activities of assigned Support Service Crew technicians. Prepares, plans and implements all phases of the various Support Service activities. Trains, supervises and evaluates assigned personnel along with inspecting daily job performance and equipment maintenance. Requires a high level of self‑motivation, independent judgment and skill in making decisions regarding assigned personnel performance. Essential Functions Supervises the daily work activities of assigned Support Service technicians and Assistant Custodians. Evaluates and prepares recommendations regarding special projects or activities that may be handled by the Support Service crew. Inspects daily work performed by each crew technician and is responsible for each technician's performance appraisal. Directly responsible for the training, usage, maintenance and upkeep of all equipment and materials assigned. Submits daily status reports of crew activities to the Operations Section staff supervisors. Responsible for the training of assigned employees and the research and evaluation of new materials and equipment. Performs related work as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to make independent decisions and instigate required action. Available to work as the needs of the job dictate, including weekends, evenings or required overtime. Be familiar with various mechanical systems, maintenance and minor repair techniques. Good communication skills and motivation ability. Typical Qualifications Supervisor experience involving planning, instigating and evaluating assigned employees. Licenses 3rd Grade Boiler's License required. Current Fire Extinguisher license required. Must have a valid Washington State driver's license plus a clean driving record. Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours employees are anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a year is eligible for benefits. Hourly staff accrue sick leave at the rate of 1:40 per the Washington Paid Sick Leave law; eligible for health benefits after 630 hours under conditions of the School Employees Benefits Board through the state of Washington.
