Job Description

The Stringer Operator Trainee role offers hands-on training alongside an experienced operator to learn how to run highly automated equipment that strings and solders solar cells for use in solar panel frames. You will begin by shadowing and assisting a seasoned operator, gradually taking on full responsibility for the machine as you demonstrate strong performance, attention to detail, and pride in your work. Once trained, you are expected to match or exceed current production levels while maintaining high quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Train alongside an experienced operator to learn the full operation of the stringer machine that runs thread through solar cells and solders them together for solar panel frames.
• Monitor the supply of thread in the system during operation and ensure it does not run out while the machine is running.
• Continuously observe the machine’s processes and status on the 50-inch quality monitor at the end of the line.
• Visually inspect strung and soldered solar cell assemblies to confirm they meet quality standards.
• Identify products that do not meet quality criteria and set them aside for repair as needed.
• Perform general cleaning and basic maintenance tasks on the machine during scheduled 30-minute shutdowns every two hours.
• Follow all production procedures and safety guidelines in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
• Work efficiently to increase production output once fully trained, striving to outpace current workforce performance while maintaining quality.
• Collaborate with team members and trainers, asking questions and applying feedback to improve skills and productivity.
• Demonstrate reliability, strong work ethic, and genuine care for product quality and overall performance on the line.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating machinery, preferably as a machine operator or CNC operator.
• Ability to learn and operate computer-controlled or CNC-style equipment.
• Strong attention to detail for visual inspection and quality control of solar cell assemblies.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and safety protocols in a manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrated pride in workmanship and genuine care about product quality and performance.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interview well and present a professional, engaged demeanor.
• Capability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating 3-2-2-3 schedule, including days and nights as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any prior experience operating CNC or other computer-controlled machines is highly beneficial.
• Experience in general labor, machine operation, or general production work.
• Comfort working with highly automated, modern manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and maintain consistent productivity.
• Willingness to learn new processes and technologies related to solar cell manufacturing.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, brand-new manufacturing facility focused on solar cell production. The environment is very clean due to the sensitivity of the solar cells, and all equipment and machinery are new and highly automated. In certain areas, you will wear hair nets and beard nets if you have facial hair to maintain cleanliness standards. Closed-toe shoes are required at all times. The schedule follows a 3-2-2-3 rotation, where one week you work 35 hours and the next week 48 hours. Shifts run from 6:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. for days and 6:00 p.m. to 6:15 a.m. for nights, with work every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and a three-day weekend on alternating weeks. You may also have opportunities to pick up additional shifts to increase your hours.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brookshire, TX.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Brookshire,TX.
