Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Our Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at our Inpatient Behavioral Health in Lutcher play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians. This position involves monitoring patient health, administering medications, and assisting with various medical procedures to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The LPN serves as a vital link between patients, families, and the healthcare team, providing compassionate support and clear communication. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to accurately document patient information and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions. Ultimately, the LPN contributes to a safe, efficient, and patient-centered hospital environment by adhering to established protocols and best practices. We are looking to add additional PRN's for 7AM-7PM shift & 7PM-7AM shift.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
• Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of nursing principles, patient care techniques, and medical terminology.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as required by the hospital.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a hospital or acute care setting, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
• Additional certifications such as IV therapy, wound care, or medication administration.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with diverse patient populations.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including monitoring vital signs, administering prescribed medications, and assisting with daily living activities.
• Collaborate with registered nurses and physicians to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Document patient information accurately and timely in medical records to ensure continuity of care.
• Observe and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the healthcare team promptly.
• Assist with medical procedures and ensure that all equipment and supplies are prepared and maintained according to hospital standards.
• Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and post-discharge care instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with infection control and safety protocols.

The required skills enable our LPN to perform clinical tasks such as monitoring patient vitals, administering medications safely, and documenting care accurately, which are essential for maintaining patient safety and treatment efficacy. Preferred skills like proficiency with electronic health records streamline documentation and improve communication within the healthcare team.
