Staff Psychologist

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Key Responsibilities Diagnose mental disorders. Conduct psychological assessments. Treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy, triage/crisis management, and behavioral health and community interventions. Conduct initial intakes/biopsychosocial assessments and treatment planning in accordance with Joint Commission/VA requirements and clinic-level SOP. Practice measurement‑based care using the Collect – Share – Act model. Consult with Oklahoma City VA Health Care System staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Consult with referring providers and other VA HCS psychologists when necessary. Participate in regularly scheduled Program/Clinic team meetings. Evaluate and make disposition of patients to treatment programs or refer to community programs and vocational placement. Serve as a consultant to other staff in evaluating and assisting Veterans with complex vocational problems. Place consults for Veterans when clinically indicated. Ensure documentation is completed timely and within facility guidelines and regulations. Ensure coding is in accordance with OMHSP MH Coding Guidelines. Maintain the physical and information security of testing materials and PII/PHI. Assist with other duties as assigned. Work Schedule and Compensation Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Competitive salary with regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 37–50 days per year (13–26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual based on prior work or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birth, adoption, or foster care placement. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full‑time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a subsidy up to 25% of eligible childcare costs, up to $416.66 per month. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% matching contributions by VA. Federal insurance: Health, vision, dental, term life, long‑term care (many programs can be carried into retirement). Telework: Situational basis, not a virtual position.
