Field Service Technician 2 - Heavy Equipment

***Experience Required*** Holt CAT, the largest Caterpillar dealer of heavy equipment in the United States, is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician for the Tyler Texas Region. The Field Service Technician's primary role is to conduct exceptional field service repairs, which include addressing problems such as pumps, hydraulics, engines, transmissions, HVAC, and electrical issues on heavy equipment like dozers, backhoes, front-end loaders, and excavators. Hours for this position will be Monday thru Friday 7am to 5pm, must be able to work overtime. Must have a valid driver license and a good driving record. Related construction equipment experience is required for this role. Must be able to obtain a CDL Class B.

Essential Functions

* Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
* Performs repairs and troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision
* Performs troubleshooting and diagnoses of equipment malfunctions and failures
* Removes and install parts, disassembles and assembles components
* Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of all repairs and adjustments
* Prepares and completes all job related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; in addition, accesses databases required to complete job
* Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
* Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation
* Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
* Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order
* Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed
* Completes assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate time and re-work standards
* Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs
* Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner
* Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may be relied upon to act as a mentor to lower level Technicians
* Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices
* Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
* Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, engines, undercarriage, and electrical
* Knowledge of emission system repair, troubleshooting, and diagnosing
* Knowledge of A/C system repair and troubleshooting on heavy construction equipment repair
* Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and basic knowledge of machine electronic systems
* Exceptional skills in customer service

* The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects

Requirements

Education and Experience:
* More than two years of heavy constructions equipment experience required; three or more years preferred
* Diesel Technology schooling preferred
* MSHA certification preferred
* Air conditioning certification preferred


Supervisory Responsibilities:
* None


Travel:
* Travel required with a possibility of an overnight stay


Additional Requirements:
* Valid Driver's license required
* Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
* Must have an safe driving record to qualify
* Must pass a DOT physical and maintain a medical card
* Must own required tools to perform repairs


Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
* Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lb
* Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
* Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
* Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
* Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work


Work Environment:
* Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
* Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and noise level may be loud at times
* May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
* Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment
* Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
