Join a dedicated maintenance team as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic on the 1st shift, where you will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of construction equipment, including light- and heavy-duty trucks, skid loaders, backhoes, pavers, and other heavy machinery. You will ensure equipment operates safely and reliably by using your expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, diesel systems, and mechanical troubleshooting, both in the shop and at job sites.

• Conduct routine preventative maintenance and inspections on light- and heavy-duty trucks, skid loaders, backhoes, pavers, dozers, excavators, and other construction equipment to ensure reliability and safety.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel-related issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and established troubleshooting methods.
• Perform repairs such as brake replacements, component and part installations, system adjustments, and other corrective actions to restore equipment to proper working condition.
• Carry out equipment maintenance tasks, including fluid checks, filter changes, lubrication, and other scheduled service activities.
• Inspect and service hydraulic and pneumatic systems to identify leaks, wear, or performance issues and complete necessary repairs.
• Document maintenance and repair activities accurately to support equipment history and future diagnostics.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop by following safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
• Travel to job sites as needed to perform on-site repairs, diagnostics, and emergency service on heavy equipment and machinery.
• Collaborate with team members to prioritize work orders, share technical knowledge, and ensure equipment is returned to service efficiently.

• Experience with construction equipment maintenance and repair, including heavy equipment and heavy machinery.
• Hands-on experience working with light- and heavy-duty trucks, skid loaders, backhoes, pavers, dozers, excavators, and similar construction equipment.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and systematic problem-solving methods.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, including inspection, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic systems and components.
• Knowledge of pneumatics and pneumatic systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic combinations.
• Experience with diesel engines, including diagnosis and repair of diesel-related issues.
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance tasks such as inspections, adjustments, and component replacements.
• Familiarity with equipment maintenance practices, including routine service schedules and equipment reliability standards.
• Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to safety in all maintenance and repair activities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team.

• Work experience or formal schooling in heavy equipment repair or a related technical field.
• Experience working with Caterpillar or similar brands of heavy equipment.
• Comfort using a variety of diagnostic tools and shop equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple work orders and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Effective communication skills to explain issues, repairs, and recommendations to team members and supervisors.

This role is based primarily in a shop environment on the 1st shift, working with a variety of construction equipment, heavy machinery, and diagnostic tools. You will operate in a hands-on setting that involves regular use of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel-related equipment. The position also includes travel to job sites to perform on-site and emergency repairs, requiring adaptability to different field conditions while maintaining a safe and organized work area.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
