Pay Rate

• Local: $78.00–$80.00 per hour

• Traveler: $82.00–$87.00 per hour

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Wound Care to provide comprehensive wound, ostomy, and continence care. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience, wound and colostomy care expertise, an active New York State RN license, and a current wound-care certification.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience.

• Wound care and colostomy care experience.

• Associate degree (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program.

• Active New York State RN license.

• Primary Source Verification of RN license and registration through NYSED.

• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.

• Current certification in at least one of the following:

  • CWOCN – Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse

  • CWON – Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse

  • CWCN – Certified Wound Care Nurse

  • CWS – Certified Wound Specialist

  • WCC – Wound Care Certified

Responsibilities

• Conduct health assessments and focused physical examinations related to wound, ostomy, and continence care.

• Develop individualized plans of care and recommend appropriate treatments.

• Assess and document patient responses to wound, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex-wound treatments.

• Identify patients at risk for pressure injuries and implement preventive measures.

• Educate patients and families on wound care and complication prevention.

• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and coordinate referrals when necessary.

• Develop and evaluate standards of care and assist in selecting wound-care supplies and equipment.

• Participate in clinical quality improvement initiatives at the unit, departmental, and hospital levels.

• Support staff education, orientation, and continuing education programs.

• Communicate clinical concerns, ethical issues, and care challenges to appropriate personnel.

• Collaborate with wound-care leadership to implement best practices.

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and protect patient confidentiality.

• Identify community resources and assist patients in accessing appropriate services.

• Manage specialty equipment, including specialty beds and negative-pressure wound therapy devices.
