• Mixed-acuity comprehensive stroke unit
• 16-bed unit
• 7:00 PM–7:30 AM shifts
• Every other weekend
• No call required
• Free onsite parking
• Cerner EMR
• First-time travelers not accepted

Required License / Certifications

• BLS
• NIHSS

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience (3 years preferred)
• Strong neuro/stroke experience required

Patient Population

• Stroke
• Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)
• Neurosurgery overflow
• Post-tPA (24-hour)
• Post-mechanical thrombectomy (24-hour)
• Frequent neurological monitoring

Patient Ratios

• RN: 1:4–1:6 (acuity-based)
• 2 CNAs per shift
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment

Required Skills

• Neuro assessments
• Phlebotomy
• EKG rhythm interpretation
• NG/Dobhoff tube placement
• Port access
• Heparin drips
• Argatroban administration
• Stable high-flow oxygen
• BiPAP management
• No titratable cardiac drips

• Omnicell medication dispensing
• Philips monitors
• Sara Stedy
• Arjo lifts
• Kangaroo feeding pumps
• Sapphire PCA pumps

Additional Notes

• Float to other mixed-acuity units within competency
• High-acuity, fast-paced comprehensive stroke unit with new leadership
