Sr. Strategic Sales Manager- Corporate Payments- D.C/MD

About the role This Sr. Strategic Sales Manager will be accountable for developing new direct business opportunities across WEX’s Corporate Payments product portfolio in Washington DC and Maryland. The role focuses on corporate optimization of B2B payments from AP systems and identifying new embedded payment verticals for virtual cards. It is an individual-contributor position ideal for an experienced, results-oriented professional with a consultative sales approach. Responsibilities Identify and qualify opportunities where virtual cards can fulfill B2B payment transactions. Develop creative strategies to target appropriate companies and initiate contact with relevant stakeholders. Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation to successful closing and post-sale follow-up. Communicate WEX’s market proposition clearly and interpret client needs to propose suitable solutions. Build strong client relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Prepare high-quality presentations and proposals for prospects and bid opportunities. Negotiate contracts and deliver timely and accurate revenue forecasting and reporting. Collaborate with internal operations to optimize the sales process and ensure smooth delivery of client services. Maintain Salesforce and account management systems with up-to-date data. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. 8–10 years of direct sales, account, and/or channel management experience. Proven record of generating own leads with a hunter mentality. Experience in B2B payments and virtual payment industry knowledge. Comprehensive understanding of financial services and complex solution sales processes. Ability to participate in strategy development and achieve critical objectives. Track record of building and maintaining relationships from senior executives to technical contacts. Strong trust, accountability, and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders. Consistent record of exceeding annual sales quotas.
