ASC Registered Nurse - Pain Clinic (7-4, M-F)

Position Summary
The ASC Registered Nurse - Interventional Spine & Pain Management Clinic provides comprehensive nursing care to patients across pre procedural, intraoperative, and post procedural phases. This role is responsible for patient assessment, clinical interventions, procedural support, recovery monitoring, and discharge education while ensuring adherence to established clinical standards, safety protocols, and organizational policies.

Patient Care & Clinical Duties
* Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments prior to procedures.
* Administer medications, IV therapy, conscious sedation, and other treatments as ordered, while monitoring patient response and vital signs.
* Provide nursing care during procedures, including maintaining sterile technique and assisting the procedural team.
* Assess, monitor, and support patients throughout recovery, ensuring safety and comfort.
* Respond effectively to emergencies and changes in patient condition.

Patient Education & Communication
* Educate patients and families on procedural expectations, recovery, and discharge instructions.
* Communicate patient status and collaborate with proceduralists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal outcomes.
* Conduct pre and post procedure follow up calls as appropriate.

Care Coordination & Transitions
* Prepare patients for procedures, including positioning and transport to procedure rooms.
* Provide detailed handoff communication during transitions of care.
* Facilitate safe discharge in accordance with provider orders and established guidelines.

Documentation & Compliance
* Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient records, procedure logs, and clinical documentation.
* Follow established protocols for specimen handling, medication administration, and procedural counts.
* Adhere to infection control standards, OSHA regulations, and organizational policies, including incident reporting requirements.

Operational & Environmental Support
* Ensure procedure rooms and equipment are prepared, cleaned, and turned over between cases.
* Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot clinical equipment; report repair needs as appropriate.
* Order, stock, and manage supplies to maintain procedural readiness.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.

Quality & Professional Practice
* Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
* Support training, orientation, and mentoring of new staff.
* Cross train and provide coverage across departmental functions as needed.
* Demonstrate professionalism, strong customer service, and adherence to organizational values and code of conduct.

Additional Responsibilities
* Utilize clinical systems and technology effectively.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
* Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
* Three to five (3-5) years of nursing experience preferred.

Licenses/Certificates
* Licensure as an RN in the State of Illinois.
* ACLS certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 90 days of employment.
* CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.

Working Environment
* Conditions include exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue and contagious diseases and/or potentially hazardous materials.
* Occasional heavy lifting required.
