Pilot Car Driver (Escort)

Pilot Car DriverThe Pilot Car Driver is responsible for escorting oversized vehicles to ensure safe travel on public roads to and from the jobsites. The role requires a high level of responsibility and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and driving skills.Job ResponsibilitiesThe driver must ensure that the escort vehicle is clean and equipped with all the necessary safety equipment such as warning signs, flags, and flashing lights.Must guide and assist the lowboy drivers and alert them when other drivers are approaching the vehicle.Must maintain contact with the driver of the oversized vehicle to coordinate movements and to warn of any traffic conditions or obstacles to ensure safe travel.Conducting route surveys: The pilot car driver may be sent out to conduct a thorough survey of the route or jobsite before the trip to identify any obstacles or hazards that could affect the lowboy drivers movement.Managing traffic: must manage traffic along routesResponsible for signaling to other drivers when it is safe to pass or when they need to slow down.Must report incidents and accidents.
