Certified Specialty Pharmacy Technician IV

Responsible for providing distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks. This position assists the pharmacist with preparing and dispensing medications, inventory management, pharmacy billing, customer service, and regulatory compliance. This role accurately responds to prescription dispensing requests, coordinates medication access and adherence, prepares medications for pharmacist review/check, performs claim adjudication, and processes customer account reconciliation. Other expectations include facilitating prior authorization and appeals processes, as well as patient management program operations.

• Ability to follow direction from formal management personnel and work well under direct supervision of a pharmacist
• Ability to identify, follow up and resolve discrepancies; assist in resolving pharmacy operational or program issues
• Ability to keep accurate and complete records
• Knowledge of medical terminology and vast understanding of mathematical principles to perform pharmaceutical calculations
• Knowledge of third-party pharmacy insurance providers and claims processing
• Knowledge of Federal and State laws governing the practice of pharmacy and delegation of responsibilities including which tasks may only be performed by a licensed Pharmacist
• Moderate proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to teach pharmacy technician students

Education:

• Associate preferred
• High School Grad or Equiv required

Field of Study: in physical science, business or healthcare related field

Work Experience:

• 3+ of pharmacy technician experience, in a retail pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy, central fill or hospital setting required
• Pharmacy specialty experience preferred
• Previous experience in a managed healthcare organization, medical insurance company, pharmacy benefit management or other healthcare related entity preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) required
• NHA Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required

Pay Range: $20.38 $32.60
