Growing together.The Medicare & Retirement General Manager (North Carolina & Tennessee) plays a critical role in supporting the overall performance of the Medicare Advantage business across North Carolina and Tennessee. In partnership with market leadership, this position is responsible for driving key business outcomes including CMS Star Ratings, member experience, provider engagement, risk adjustment performance, and operational readiness. The General Manager serves as a cross-functional leader, influencing strategy and execution across UnitedHealthcare and Optum partners while developing the market leadership skills necessary for Responsibilities:Support the development and execution of Medicare Advantage market strategies across North Carolina and Tennessee to achieve business objectives related to quality performance, risk adjustment, member experience, growth, and retentionPartner with UnitedHealthcare and Optum stakeholders to drive performance against key market metrics, including CMS Star Ratings, HEDIS, CAHPS, HOS, risk adjustment, and provider engagement initiativesAnalyze market performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, translating insights into actionable strategies that improve outcomes and support achievement of market goalsBuild and maintain strategic relationships with health systems, provider organizations, physician groups, and community partners to advance market priorities and improve healthcare outcomes across North Carolina and TennesseeInfluence and align cross-functional partners across UnitedHealthcare and Optum to ensure successful execution of market priorities, operational readiness activities, and enterprise initiativesPartner with local and national teams to enhance member and provider experience through initiatives focused on customer satisfaction, health outcomes, health equity, and access to careSupport market execution of diagnostic coding, documentation, and risk adjustment strategies designed to improve provider engagement, compliance, suspect closure, and recapture performanceCollaborate with product, network, clinical, service, and operations teams to support market readiness, regulatory compliance, issue resolution, and implementation of key business initiativesRepresent the market in internal and external forums, leveraging local market expertise to influence business decisions and strengthen relationships with key stakeholdersYou'll roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:3+ years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare, health insurance, managed care, or a related field, including experience leading cross-functional initiativesExperience with Medicare Advantage quality performance, including CMS Star Ratings or HEDIS, and familiarity with risk adjustment, diagnostic coding and documentation, or value-based care programsDemonstrated project or program management experience, including establishing work plans, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, managing risks and dependencies, and delivering initiatives within established timelinesIntermediate or higher proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, data validation, and analysis of large datasets, and proficiency developing executive-level presentations in Microsoft PowerPointDemonstrated ability to analyze large and complex datasets, identify performance drivers and root causes, and translate findings into actionable business recommendationsDemonstrated ability to work independently, establish priorities, take ownership of deliverables, and drive initiatives to measurable completion in a matrixed environmentDemonstrated written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex performance information and recommendations clearly to executive leaders, providers, community partners, and cross-functional stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications:Experience building productive relationships with healthcare providers, medical groups, health systems, or provider networks to improve quality, operational, or member outcomesExperience leading cross-functional initiatives across healthcare operations, including network, clinical, product, sales, marketing, customer service, and technology or systems teamsExperience applying process-improvement and root-cause analysis methods to identify operational barriers, implement corrective actions, and monitor resultsExperience developing relationships with community-based organizations, advocacy groups, or local stakeholders to support business and member outcomesExperience leading change in a highly matrixed environmentDemonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and complex stakeholder matters with discretion, sound judgment, professionalism, and integrityDemonstrated negotiation and influence skills, including the ability to align stakeholders with differing priorities and reach workable business solutionsProven advanced skills in strategic planning and process improvementDemonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing business requirements, and make sound decisions when information or direction is incomplete*All employees working certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
