Position Summary
The Senior Full Stack Developer is responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of scalable web-based applications that support business operations and member services. This role builds on full stack development expertise by driving architecture decisions, advancing software development lifecycle practices, and delivering complex solutions from concept to production. The Senior Full Stack Developer partners with cross-functional teams and leadership to improve development processes, enhance automation, and ensure high-quality, secure application delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities
Software Development & Engineering
• Lead the development and maintenance of web applications that support internal systems and business operations.
• Design and develop complex back-end services, databases, and application infrastructure.
• Build and guide the development of front-end components using modern frameworks and web technologies.
• Act as the SME for assigned technology platforms—driving adoption, best practices, and innovation.
• Ensure applications are optimized for scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Analyze, resolve, and document complex software defects and system issues.
• Resolve complex customer/member issues independently and implement improvements.
• Drive adoption of platform features, maximizing organizational investment and leveraging full platform capabilities.

Requirements, Design & Architecture
• Lead technical design, architecture, and prototyping efforts for new and existing applications.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions.
• Define and evolve API design and API management strategies, including self-service capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to create organizational APIs and SDKs that align business processes with custom development solutions.
• Develop and maintain end-to-end system architectures and roadmaps, ensuring scalability, interoperability, and compliance.
• Define usage guidelines, best practices, and governance policies to ensure compliant, secure, and efficient platform use.

DevOps, Testing & Delivery
• Lead and contribute to the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including development, testing, and deployment practices.
• Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of software into production environments.
• Provide accurate effort estimates and contribute to product and development roadmaps.
• Research and implement improvements to development pipelines, tools, and DevOps practices.
• Provide SME guidance during platform-related projects, from planning through deployment, adoption, and transition to support teams.

Security & Continuous Improvement
• Identify and address application security risks and vulnerabilities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to development frameworks, tools, and processes.
• Contribute to and define programming standards, best practices, and development guidelines.
• Define and enforce governance policies and best practices to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient platform usage.

Collaboration, Communication & Leadership
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders and IT leadership, to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Collaborate with business teams to understand needs, challenges, and opportunities where platform capabilities can deliver value.
• Communicate technical strategies, risks, and progress effectively to stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide developers to improve technical capabilities and overall team performance.
• Identify skill gaps and support development planning across the team.
• Develop documentation, knowledge articles, and training programs to enable effective platform usage.
• Collaborate with enterprise technology capability teams including AI, automation, cloud, and collaboration platforms to evaluate and implement solutions.

Strategy & Roadmap Planning
• Contribute to product architecture and long-term technology roadmap planning.
• Drive platform strategy and adoption by aligning capabilities with organizational needs and maximizing platform value.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills
Required Knowledge
• 5+ years of programming experience with multiple languages/systems, gathering requirements, and authoring programming specification systems or equivalent experience with systems administration within a financial service environment
• Broad cross functional knowledge of department's role and how it connects to Affinity Plus's operations, functions and services.

Qualifications and Skills
Technology Experience
• Advanced ability to design, develop, and maintain full stack applications across front-end and back-end technologies.
• Extensive experience with programming concepts, relational database design, and query optimization.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and scalable code following established standards.
• Experience building application features and systems from the ground up.
• Strong expertise in API design, development, and management.
• Experience developing scalable, reusable services and integrating systems through APIs.
• Advanced knowledge of SDLC practices and development lifecycle tools such as Azure DevOps or AWS.
• Experience improving CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.

Work Environment
This role is: Virtual First - Requires reliable internet access and home office setup

Physical Requirements
• Sitting 90-95% and standing 5-10%.
• Working at a computer 98% of the day.
• Repetitive movements, including but not limited to typing, mousing, phones, etc.
• May require to lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 pounds.
• Bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, or crouching on occasion.

Requires onsite presence based on coordination of work with other employees and/or departments. May require travel to attend on-site meetings/events for collaboration, connection, project work, All-Employee Day, etc.

Required Work Schedule
Standard Monday through Friday business hours with a willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed. May be required to provide 24/7 on-call support. Consistent and reliable attendance is a required essential function of this role to meet the needs of the department/team and organization.

Location

This position will have the opportunity to work virtually, but candidates should live in Minnesota or Wisconsin. Working onsite throughout the year for meetings and team events will be required and are typically held in or near St. Paul, MN . Additionally, once hired, more time onsite may be required initially for collaboration and working sessions.

Compensation

This position has a starting pay range of $102,900 - $133,750 annually.

This range reflects what we anticipate offering a successful candidate based on factors such as the role’s responsibilities, required qualifications, and relevant experience. The actual pay may vary depending on the selected candidate’s skills, experience, and other qualifications.
