BSA/AML Compliance Officer- Fintech/Payments

Reports to: Global Chief Compliance Officer About VelaFi VelaFi is a fintech company building next-generation infrastructure for global cross-border payments. We help businesses move money efficiently across markets through modern payment, FX, and digital-asset infrastructure. As we continue expanding our U.S. operations and regulatory footprint, we are looking for a hands‑on BSA/AML Compliance Officer to join our growing global compliance team. About the Role The BSA/AML Compliance Officer will support the day-to-day administration and continued development of VelaFi’s U.S. BSA/AML and sanctions compliance program. This is a hands‑on role for someone who understands the operational realities of compliance within a payments or fintech environment. You will work closely with our Global Chief Compliance Officer and cross‑functional teams while supporting customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, regulatory filings, licensing, examinations, and ongoing compliance obligations. What You’ll Do Administer and maintain the Company’s BSA/AML/OFAC compliance program on a day-to-day basis. Conduct and oversee customer onboarding, KYC/KYB reviews, transaction monitoring, enhanced due diligence, and escalation of potentially suspicious activity . Prepare and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) as required. Maintain records in accordance with applicable BSA recordkeeping requirements. Support multi-state money transmitter license applications , renewals, reporting, and ongoing regulatory requirements across licensed jurisdictions. Liaise with state regulators and support responses to regulatory examinations, inquiries, and information requests. Assist with periodic independent reviews, audits, and testing of the AML compliance program. Support remediation efforts and continued improvement of compliance policies, procedures, controls, and documentation. Monitor developments involving FinCEN, OFAC, BSA/AML requirements, and state MSB/money‑transmitter regulation . Partner with Compliance, Legal, Operations, Product, and other teams as the company expands its products and regulatory footprint. What We’re Looking For 3+ years of BSA/AML compliance experience , preferably within an MSB, payments, remittance, fintech, or similar regulated financial‑services environment. Strong understanding of the federal BSA/AML framework, FinCEN regulations, OFAC requirements, and the USA PATRIOT Act . Familiarity with multi-state money transmitter licensing and regulatory requirements . Hands‑on experience with SAR/CTR filing, KYC/KYB, transaction monitoring, and enhanced due diligence . Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audits, or compliance testing is preferred. Experience with B2B cross‑border payments, stablecoins, or digital assets is a strong plus. CAMS certification preferred, but not required. Strong attention to detail and sound compliance judgment. Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast‑moving, growth‑stage environment. Based in or willing to relocate to the Plano/Dallas‑Fort Worth area .
