Registered Nurse Ortho Trauma

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate, team-oriented Registered Nurse for our Ortho Trauma unit within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to adult orthopedic and trauma patients, including those recovering from fractures, joint replacements, complex musculoskeletal injuries, and multi-system trauma. You will be responsible for conducting thorough patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient responses, and collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, physical and occupational therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

The Registered Nurse Ortho Trauma will coordinate pre- and post-operative care, support pain management plans, perform wound care and dressing changes, manage orthopedic devices such as casts, splints, traction, and external fixation, and provide education to patients and families regarding their diagnosis, treatment options, mobility and weight-bearing status, use of assistive devices, and discharge planning. You will advocate for patient safety and quality outcomes by adhering to established clinical protocols, documenting accurately in the electronic health record, and participating in unit-based quality improvement, falls prevention, and infection control initiatives.
