Job Title: Heat Treat Operator
Job Description
The Heat Treat Operator performs heat treatment processes on aerospace components to ensure they meet engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role sets up and operates heat treat furnaces, monitors process controls, conducts basic inspections, and accurately documents all process data to maintain high quality and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate heat treat furnaces and related equipment, including vacuum, air, and inert atmosphere furnaces, in accordance with work instructions and specifications.
- Load and unload aerospace parts while following all handling, safety, and quality requirements.
- Monitor time, temperature, pressure, and atmosphere parameters throughout the heat treat cycle to ensure processes meet specified requirements.
- Perform hardness testing and basic inspections to verify that parts conform to engineering and customer specifications.
- Read and interpret routers, work instructions, engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to execute heat treat operations correctly.
- Record process data accurately in charts, logs, and electronic systems to maintain complete and traceable documentation.
- Identify, document, and report any nonconforming conditions, part discrepancies, or equipment issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow all safety procedures and work practices in an industrial manufacturing environment, including proper use of equipment and adherence to facility rules.
- Comply with all quality and regulatory requirements, including AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific specifications.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of equipment and processes as needed to support continuous and reliable production.
- Work effectively in a production environment, supporting team goals and maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Experience operating machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting and other labor-intensive tasks.
- Strong attention to detail to monitor process parameters and verify part conformance.
- Basic math skills to interpret measurements, parameters, and process data.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, routers, and blueprints.
- Comfort working around large industrial machinery and production equipment.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting in a production setting.
- Commitment to following safety, quality, and regulatory requirements such as AS9100, NADCAP, and customer specifications.
- Experience in an industrial or aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with heat treat processes or similar thermal processing operations.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and detailed specifications.
- Experience performing basic inspections and hardness testing.
- Comfort working in varying temperature conditions, including hot and cold environments.
- Strong reliability and consistency in following documented procedures and recording data accurately.

Work Environment
This position is based in an industrial manufacturing facility with large, loud machines and active production areas. The role operates on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. You will work in an open-air facility and may also perform tasks outside, so conditions can be hot or cold depending on the weather. The environment is hands-on and physically demanding, with regular exposure to industrial equipment and heat treat furnaces, and requires adherence to all safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vista, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
