A B O U T U S The Collective Boutiques runs 13 boutique marketplaces across the country, each home to hundreds of independent shop owners selling handmade goods, home decor, fashion and gifts under one roof. We handle the building, the staff and the register so our shop owners can focus on what they make. A store manager here is running a small community of business owners, not just a sales floor. T H E R O LE You own the performance, the culture and the feel of one location. This job has two halves that matter equally. The first is the one every retail manager knows, a clean store, a good team and a strong day. The second is what makes this different, you are responsible for keeping the booths full and for the relationships with the shop owners who rent them. If you like people and you like filling a room, that second half is the fun part. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YEAR ONE Your booths are full, and the people in them are the ones you would have picked. Shop owners renew because they are making money, not because moving is a hassle. Your team can run a shift well without you standing there. Nothing about your store surprises leadership, because you flagged it first.

Operations Keep every booth in your store filled, by going out and recruiting shop owners rather than waiting for applications. Screen who comes in. Their merchandise and presentation set the tone of the whole store. Onboard new shop owners and walk them through how everything works, from booth standards to how and when they get paid. Walk the booths regularly and hold them to a standard on cleanliness, merchandising and presentation. Build real relationships with your shop owners, and deal with concerns and policy issues early and directly. Follow up on anyone behind on rent. Payment runs through our online portal, so this is the conversation and the follow-through, not collecting money at the store. Keep leadership current on occupancy, upcoming vacancies and who is coming or going.

Interview, hire and onboard your store team alongside leadership. Train people to give the kind of service that makes customers come back, and set clear expectations for what good looks like. Give regular feedback, and handle performance or conduct problems promptly and by the book. Build a team culture people actually want to be part of. Build the weekly schedule with the right coverage and a sensible eye on labor cost. Approve time off, handle callouts and make sure every shift is covered.

Watch your daily, weekly and monthly numbers against target, and work with leadership on a plan when something is off. Manage store spending against budget. Make sure daily cash reconciliation, deposits and reporting are done accurately and on time. Look for ways to grow both booth rental and floor sales by improving what customers experience.

Keep the store clean, well merchandised and running to standard, every day. Oversee the merchandising program for your store and hit the deadlines promised to shop owners.

Two to three years of retail management experience. Boutique or specialty retail is a plus. A track record of leading and developing a team. Genuine sales instinct. A good part of this job is persuading someone to take a booth. Comfort having direct conversations about money and expectations with small business owners. Experience with rental programs, vendor relationships or multi-tenant retail is a plus, not a requirement. Strong organization and communication, and the judgment to escalate the right things. Comfortable with point of sale systems, scheduling tools and payroll platforms, or quick to learn them. Open availability including evenings, weekends and holidays. Able to lift up to 30 pounds and be on your feet for long stretches.
