Job Description

TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a global Tier 1 automotive supplier to hire a Controls Engineer . This role will support highly automated production lines through PLC programming, robotics support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on maximizing equipment performance, uptime, and quality.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, modify, and program PLCs and HMIs supporting automated assembly equipment.
Support robotic systems, vision inspection equipment, and automated manufacturing processes.
Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and controls-related issues to minimize downtime.
Integrate and support error-proofing systems, torque tools, and automated quality controls.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring equipment issues.
Partner with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
Support automation projects, process improvements, and equipment upgrades.
Train and mentor maintenance personnel on controls and automation systems.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
3+ years of Controls or Automation Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs and HMIs.
Experience with Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, or Siemens TIA Portal.
Knowledge of servo drives, VFDs, industrial sensors, and Ethernet/IP networks.
Experience troubleshooting automated production equipment.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with FANUC or ABB robotics.
Experience with Cognex or Keyence vision systems.
Background supporting Tier 1 automotive assembly operations.
Experience working in highly automated manufacturing environments.
