About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – PICU (Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool)

Location

Charleston, SC | Acute Care – Pediatric Units (CVPICU, NICU, PICU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Expected 36 hours/week | Every other weekend required, holiday rotation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with staffing ratios of 1:2 to 1:3
• Float within scope across all pediatric units, including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU, to meet facility needs
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotation as scheduled
• Contribute to emergency response efforts as required; travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Complete required pre-start compliance modules prior to start date (non-billable, approximately 4 hours)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
• Active South Carolina RN License or Multi-State/Compact RN License required (candidates with a pending SC license may be considered with proof of application; clearance to work will not occur until SC license is active)
• BLS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
• PALS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
• Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility to be prioritized; local candidates within 60 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Previous permanent or PRN staff must have been separated from the facility system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
• Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
• Flexibility to accommodate varying unit scheduling needs; block scheduling may be considered with managerial approval
