Bus Operator - Demand Response - Full TimeThe Full Time Bus Operator - Demand Response provides MWRTA's passengers with safe, friendly transportation in vehicles designed for wheelchair lifts, seats, and other special access. This position focuses on non-emergency medical transportation and we welcome candidates with experience in customer service, home health-care, or ability to provide high-quality patient care.What We Offer:Competitive Pay: $25.37 / HourComprehensive Benefits PackageMedical, Dental, Vision, 401KPaid TrainingEmployee IncentivesCareer growth & advance opportunitiesKnowledge and Experience:Must be minimum 21 years of age5 years verifiable valid Drivers licenseValid current Massachusetts Driver's LicenseMust have clean driving record – DMV printout required for the last 10 yearsMust have stable work historyCPR, AED and First Aid Certification (Provided by the Company)Skills:Excellent customer service skillsPositive attitude and enjoy working with the general publicAdaptive decisions making skills handling unexpected situationsExcellent communication skillsAble to follow directionsConsistently showing up on time and being dependableAbility to obtain a CDL with Passenger and Airbrakes EndorsementAbility to work in an ever changing environmentPatience and Understanding: Providing compassionate service to passengers with special needsKey Accountabilities:Customer ServiceEnsure customers feel welcomeEffectively communicate with passengers especially in the event of service disruptionsProvide passengers with assistance as neededAccommodate passengers with information such as schedule, guidance, etc.SafetyPractice defensive driving, anticipating potential hazards and reacting appropriately to avoid accidentsEnsure safe on-road operations while maintaining on-time performanceFamiliarity with assigned routing and detours to include inclement weatherAwareness of ADA Policies and Procedures to ensure complianceProper operation of all wheelchair lifts to include manual operation, for each bus modelReport immediately to dispatch any vehicular accident or passenger incident and follow the incident and accident reporting proceduresAssist and help passengers with mobility devices, such as wheelchairs or walkers while providing either curb to curb or door to door serviceAssisting passengers with boarding and properly securing wheelchairsOperationCollect the prescribed fare media and notify dispatch of any type of fare evasion or fraudPerform pre and post trip inspections and enter all defects on to the DVIR formsFollow exact deadhead routing and their assigned revenue service routesDepart the start of each route exactly on-time and never operate ahead of schedulePerform other duties as assignedWork Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
