Interim Accounting Manager

Our client, a residential construction and services company, is seeking an Interim Accounting Manager to provide hands-on support during a transition period.

This role is hybrid, with in-office requirements 3 days/week in Los Gatos, CA. This role has an initial duration of 3 months, with a strong likelihood of extension. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer billing, and collections activities
• Process project-based billing and ensure transactions are supported by accurate documentation
• Prepare journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and complete bank and account reconciliations
• Lead month-end close activities and ensure accounting deliverables are completed accurately and on time
• Process payroll and maintain related accounting records and reconciliations
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting workflows
• Serve as the primary accounting contact and provide financial support to senior leadership

Requirements:

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of day-to-day accounting operations
• Construction, contracting, or project-based accounting experience
• Experience with project billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Proficiency with construction-focused accounting software or a comparable ERP platform
• Strong general ledger knowledge with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate effectively with leadership
