As a Senior Software Engineer, you will architect and lead development of "River," our Electron-based command and control (C2) application that operates test and control systems—including driver-level PLC and packaged control surfaces, data storage, manipulation, and real-time send/receive. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:Architect, develop, and maintain River, an Electron-based command and control application (TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js)Design and own data pipelines for storage, manipulation, and real-time send/receive of high-rate dataLead driver-level integration with PLC and packaged control surfaces (Modbus and other industrial protocols)Establish software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices across the codebaseDrive code quality through reviews, automated testing, and CI/CDPartner with controls, avionics, and test engineers to define interfaces and translate requirements into robust softwareTroubleshoot complex issues across the software/hardware boundary in development and test environmentsMentor junior engineers and contribute to technical roadmap and cross-program lessons learnedMinimum Qualifications:B.S. in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, or a related STEM field5+ years of relevant software development experienceStrong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.jsExperience building and shipping production applications, including data storage and real-time communicationDemonstrated experience with software architecture, design patterns, and testing/CI practicesMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Electron and cross-platform desktop application developmentExperience integrating with PLCs and industrial protocols (Modbus, etc.) at the driver levelExperience with time-series databases, high-rate data acquisition, or streaming dataFamiliarity with command and control, test systems, or hardware-in-the-loop environmentsExperience leading projects and mentoring engineersWhy Blue Origin:We are a team of problem solvers united by a passion for our mission:for the benefit of Earth.
