Sr Chemical Process Engineer

Position Overview Key member of Dexcom’s R&D Material Science Center; collaborate with engineers, scientists, and technicians to develop next-generation CGM sensor membrane material technologies. Focus on polymer engineering for medical device membranes. Responsibilities Develop and implement polymer synthesis unit operations in support of technical feasibility, development, and scaling of novel polymer processes. Lead design and development of new polymer synthesis processes in a pilot-scale polymer laboratory environment. Execute design control deliverables for new polymer membrane materials, including laboratory reports, lot history records, manufacturing process instructions, SOPs, inventory and productivity reports, calibration schedules, and preventive maintenance schedules. Plan and execute synthesis process DOEs and characterize material properties to generate processing-structure relationships and optimize product design. Identify and optimize critical polymer composition and process parameters to deliver robust, high-yielding manufacturing processes. Define process control limits of the chemical unit operations to ensure stable and capable performance within specification limits. Lead qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) of new equipment, facilities, and processes. Develop and validate testing methodologies for process control and support QC method transfer. Collaborate with raw material suppliers, equipment vendors, and other external partners to meet project deliverables and accelerate timelines. Train and perform all work in accordance with Dexcom’s quality management system. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline; or Master’s degree and 2‑5 years equivalent industry experience; or PhD and up to 2 years experience. 5‑8 years of related experience (or equivalent). Hands‑on knowledge and experience with pilot‑ or manufacturing‑scale chemical process unit operations, preferably polymer synthesis. Expertise in life science, chemistry, polymer science or polymer engineering. High level of mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment. Strong background in equipment, method, and process qualification and validation activities. Organized, detail‑oriented, skilled in problem‑solving with knowledge in DOE methodology, statistics, data analysis tools (JMP, Minitab, Python, or MATLAB preferred). Experience with GLP, GMP and ISO regulations in medical device development and manufacturing. Ability to lead workstreams, manage timelines, and deliver results in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Aptitude and creativity to contribute to intellectual property development and innovation initiatives. Benefits & Compensation Competitive salary range: $105,800.00 – $176,300.00.
