Position Details Position Number: 40075220 Payroll Title: PLUMBER Job Code: 008258 Job Open Date: 5/15/26 Application Review Begins: 6/2/26 Department: FACILITIES MANAGEMENT (FACM) Percentage of Time: 100% Employee Class: Staff: Career FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Rate/Range: $47.48 hour Work Location: 6759 Navigator Drive, UCSB Campus Working Days and Hours: M-F, 7am–4pm Benefits Eligibility: Full Benefits Summary of Job Duties The plumber designs, redesigns, and assembles piping systems (water, steam, sanitary, storm drains, irrigation, sprinklers, compressed air) from working drawings and blueprints. The role requires knowledge of building and safety codes, hydraulic and pipe dimensioning, welding, soldering, brazing, and installation and repair of fixtures, air compressors, pumps, boilers, steam, and hot water systems. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 3–5 years of journeyman‑level plumbing experience. Proficiency in reading and creating working drawings from blueprints. Understanding of building and safety codes related to plumbing, hydraulic, and fire protection systems. Ability to perform welding, soldering, and brazing of metal pipe and fittings. Experience installing and repairing plumbing fixtures, air compressors, pumps, steam boilers, and hot water boilers. Special Conditions of Employment Must be able to respond to night and weekend call‑backs; days and hours may vary. Required to hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that complies with local policies, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program. Job Functions and Time Allocation 90% Technical – design, assemble, repair, and inspect piping systems and related equipment; oversee skilled, semi‑skilled, and unskilled assistants. 10% General, Safety & Security – communication, safety training, compliance with UCSB policies and OSHA, environmental safety, and routine facility maintenance tasks.
