For more information about the lab, please visit: We seek a highly motivated and independent researcher to lead scientific andtechnology-development efforts focused on microfluidic-based in vitro diagnostictechnologies for bloodstream infections as part of an NIH-funded project. Theposition will also provide opportunities to contribute to broader diagnostictechnology development in infectious diseases and cancer. Key Responsibilities Independently lead and collaboratively advance research projects in diseasediagnostics, including cancere and infectious deisases. Develop, optimize, troubleshoot, and validate nucleic acid for diagnosticapplications. Contribute to the design, prototyping, fabrication, and testing ofmicrofluidic devices and integrated diagnostic workflows. Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate students. Prepare progress reports and present research findings to collaborators,sponsors, and funding agencies. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals. Contribute to competitive grant and contract proposals to federal agencies,including NIH. The referenced salary range is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faithbelief at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will be based on factors including, but not limited to,the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate - e.g., years inrank, training, field, discipline, other work experience, and other similarfactors; geographic location; internal equity; external market conditions; andother factors as reasonably determined by the University. Qualifications Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, mechanical engineering,microbiology, molecular biology, or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated research experience in in vitro diagnostics for human and/oranimal infectious diseases. Experience with molecular diagnostic methods such as PCR, digital PCR, LAMP,RPA, CRISPR-based assays, or related technologies. Experience designing, fabricating, and testing microfluidic devices orplatforms, including methods such as cleanroom microfabrication, laser cutting,thermoforming, or 3D printing. Experience with microscopy-based characterization and assay readout. Proficiency in data analysis and computational tools such as MATLAB, Python,or equivalent platforms. Strong written and oral communication skills, with a record of publishing andpresenting research. Demonstrated ability to mentor junior researchers and work effectively inmultidisciplinary teams. Salary Range The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries forthis position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief atthe time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end ofthe salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate mayvary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include thesuccessful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internalequity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonablydetermined by the University.
