What you need to be successful To excel as a Full-Time Building Inspector I at American Fork City, candidates must possess a blend of technical skills and relevant experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is essential, along with 2‑3 years of experience in construction or a related field. Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations is vital for ensuring public safety and compliance. Candidates must hold two ICC certifications, as well as a State of Utah Limited Inspector certification. Furthermore, the ability to complete two additional ICC certifications—such as electrical, building, mechanical, or plumbing—within 12 months of hire will be crucial for ongoing professional development. Proficiency in utilizing inspection software and tools, coupled with effective communication skills, will enable you to interact constructively with contractors, homeowners, and city officials, reinforcing a culture of integrity within American Fork. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: High School diploma or equivalent; 2‑3 years of experience in a related field.
