Workers Compensation Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks an associate attorney to defend workers' compensation cases in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role involves representing employers or insurers in various legal proceedings and managing workers' compensation costs. Duties Gather medical evidence and records. Take depositions of claimants, physicians, and experts. Conduct discovery and perform legal research. Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents. Litigate cases before a workers' compensation judge. Represent interests at hearings, trials, and mediations. Communicate with claims representatives. Monitor loss run reports and alert management to concerns. Assist with accident investigations. Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insurance company. Requirements J.D. and proof of passing the Indiana bar exam; additional Midwest state bar a plus. Experience in Workers' Compensation defense or General Liability preferred. Knowledge of legal principles and practices. Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws. Proficiency in Microsoft Word. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail and multitasking ability. Effective telephone and writing skills. Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
