Medical Assistant Neurology

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant provides clinical support primarily in an outpatient neurology practice, assisting with patient care related to neurological illnesses such as TBI, stroke, CVA, and substance abuse. The role includes clinical duties along with occasional front-office tasks like patient check-in/check-out, phone coverage, scheduling, and managing patient messages to support clinic flow. The Medical Assistant must be patient, well-rounded, and able to work within the scope of practice to meet facility needs. Responsibilities:

• Assist with clinical support tasks in the neurology outpatient setting.
• Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures as needed.
• Manage phone coverage and respond to patient messages.
• Support clinic flow by coordinating schedules and assisting staff.
• Utilize Epic electronic health record system for documentation and charting.
• Float within scope of practice to meet facility needs as required.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) credential (MA-R not accepted).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 6 months healthcare experience, preferably in adult outpatient clinics.
• Proficiency with healthcare terminology and Epic electronic health record system.
• Reliable personal transportation.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in neurology or similar outpatient specialty clinics.
• Strong communication and patient interaction skills.
• Ability to adapt and float within clinical skillset as needed.

Special Considerations:

• Locals only; traveler candidates must be aware of transportation requirements.
• Strict policy on interview attendance; no call no show disqualifies future consideration.
• Role is temp to perm with confirmation of return-to-office requirements from hiring manager.
• No weekend or on-call requirements.

Scheduling:

• Five 8-hour day shifts per week.
• Day shift schedule with no weekend work required.
