Job Title: Registered Nurse

About JFS:

Jewish Family Service of Metrowest (JFS) is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to accelerating social, academic and health equity. JFS provides vital social, health and community services that alleviate suffering, enhance lives and support people in need.

JFS Homecare helps older adults remain safely and independently in their homes by providing individualized, non-medical homecare services, including personal care, homemaking, and support with activities of daily living. Services are delivered by trained direct service staff working from individualized plans of care and in coordination with clients, families, and care professionals. The JFS Homecare team includes approximately 30 direct service staff and serves more than 100 older adults each month through contracts with Springwell (ASAP) and MassAbility.

Position Overview:

JFS Homecare is growing, and JFS is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to support the safety, quality and regulatory compliance of homecare services provided to older adults in the community. The RN provides supervision and oversight of direct service staff in clients’ homes; no direct RN medical care is required as part of this position. No prior homecare experience is required, and training is provided.

Location and General Schedule:

Two flexible scheduling options are available to the right candidate. The location, core qualifications and hourly compensation are the same for both options; the primary differences are the time commitment and scope of responsibilities.

• JFS office, 475 Franklin Street, Framingham, MA 01702, and clients’ homes in Framingham, Ashland, Natick, Marlborough and surrounding towns in the greater Metrowest area.
• Scheduling is highly flexible, with most work scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
• Each supervisory visit typically requires approximately 1.5-2 hours, including supervision, travel and documentation.

Requirements:

• Valid Massachusetts RN license.
• Proof of valid individual professional liability insurance.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
• Regular Tuberculosis screening is required. Other public health requirements may apply as contractual conditions change.
• Strong English communication skills and the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and respectfully with direct service staff who may have limited English language fluency. Multilingual skills, particularly Spanish and/or Portuguese, are a plus.
• Two professional references in the healthcare field.
• Interest in working with older adults.
• Ability to think critically, solve problems in real time and work independently in community settings.
• Daytime availability and sufficient scheduling flexibility to accommodate supervisory visits, including occasional short-notice requests.

Compensation:

$45-$55 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The higher end of the range is intended for experienced RNs with direct relevant experience, particularly in homecare, community-based nursing, supervision of homecare staff, or comparable work involving regulatory and contract compliance.

Eligible travel mileage is reimbursed by JFS.

Employees accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked in accordance with applicable Massachusetts law. Eligibility for other JFS benefits is based on employment status and applicable plan terms.

Choose the Schedule and Scope that Fits You

Applicants may be considered for either of the following options based on their interests, experience and availability.

Option 1: Part-Time RN – 5+ Hours per Week
This option may be especially appealing to an RN interested in building experience or a longer-term career in homecare. It combines required field supervision with broader responsibilities that support Homecare operations and contract and regulatory compliance.

Schedule: Minimum commitment of 5 hours per week; typical schedule is approximately 5-10 hours per week. Additional hours may be scheduled as needed.

Responsibilities include:

• Conduct supervisory visits with Personal Care Homemaker staff in clients’ homes on a quarterly basis and as needed, including for new client enrollments or staff assignment changes.
• Communicate with direct service staff to coordinate supervisory visit scheduling and provide clear, accessible guidance.
• Review and evaluate client care plans during supervisory visits and address questions or concerns from staff or clients.
• Complete required supervisory documentation, including online supervisory reports and state-mandated paper forms, and ensure signed care plans are completed and submitted as required.
• Communicate concerns regarding client care or staff performance to JFS office staff, along with appropriate recommendations.
• Coordinate and maintain the schedule of required supervisory visits to support timely compliance with state and contract requirements.
• Monitor and maintain accurate client and staff records, including tracking completion of quarterly supervisory visits.
• Assess client needs and recommend adjustments to service hours or additional evaluations as appropriate.
• Perform client assessments when concerns arise regarding health, safety or overall well-being.
• Conduct TB screenings for direct service staff as required.
• Assist with audits and requests for documentation or information from contract holders.
• Collaborate with office staff to support Homecare operations and ensure compliance with regulatory and contract requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Option 2: PRN RN – As Needed
This option may be especially appealing to a retired or semi-retired RN, an RN working another position, or someone seeking flexible supplemental income. The scope is intentionally narrower and focuses on completing required field supervisory visits and the associated documentation.

Schedule: No guaranteed or minimum weekly hours. Work is scheduled as needed based on required supervisory visits.

Responsibilities include:

• Conduct required supervisory visits with Personal Care Homemaker staff in clients’ homes on a quarterly basis and as needed, including for new client enrollments or staff assignment changes.
• Communicate with direct service staff as needed to coordinate supervisory visits.
• Review client care plans during supervisory visits and address questions or concerns raised during the visit.
• Complete required documentation associated with each supervisory visit, including applicable online reports and state-mandated forms.
• Ensure required supervisory documentation and signed care plans are completed and submitted as required.
• Communicate concerns identified during supervisory visits regarding client care or staff performance to JFS office staff.
• Conduct TB screenings for direct service staff as required.
