Job Duties for Payroll Supervisor Position:

• Process accurate weekly, biweekly, and semimonthly payroll for a multi-location agricultural workforce, including time records, piece-rate and production pay, overtime, premiums, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and payroll adjustments
• Audit payroll data, reconcile payroll, timekeeping, and general ledger records, resolve discrepancies, maintain required documentation, and support month-end activities
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, FLSA, California Labor Code, ACA reporting, agricultural labor regulations, payroll tax filings, audits, and government inquiries
• Maintain payroll system accuracy, employee records, earnings codes, reports, labor cost analyses, tax reports, and management dashboards
• Lead, train, and support payroll staff and field timekeepers, assign responsibilities, review work for accuracy, coordinate cross-training, and serve as the escalation point for complex payroll concerns
• Partner with supervisors and department leaders to provide timely workforce reporting and improve payroll processes, systems, controls, testing, and standardization across locations
• Respond promptly to employee payroll questions, assist with direct deposit, tax withholding, and earnings statements, and maintain confidentiality of payroll and personal information
• Follow all policies and procedures in place
• Completes any other related tasks as needed

Qualifications for Payroll Supervisor Position:

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent education and experience considered
• Five or more years of payroll processing experience required, with senior, lead, or supervisory payroll experience preferred
• Agricultural, farming, ranching, produce packing, food processing, seasonal workforce, high-volume payroll, and complex wage structure experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, payroll taxation, agricultural payroll practices, piece-rate compensation, and California agricultural labor requirements
• Proficiency with payroll software, HRIS systems, Microsoft Excel, and enterprise platforms such as ADP, UKG, Paylocity, Ceridian, Picktrace, or Pet Tiger preferred
• CPP certification and bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, problem-solving, leadership, customer service, and collaboration skills with exceptional accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet strict deadlines, sit for extended periods, occasionally lift up to 20 pounds, travel between locations as needed, and work additional hours during peak seasons, payroll periods, year-end, and audits
