Agriculture Nursery Worker- Inventory Site

Job Summary Agriculture Nursery Workers may perform any combination of the following duties concerned with preparing soil and growth media, cultivation, and otherwise participating in horticultural activities: haul, spread, dig, rake, and mix media to prepare the growing areas for production. Cover and fill cold frames and greenhouses in preparation for planting and repair as needed; haul, plant, spray, weed, water, prune, trim, shape and space products. Fertilize with granular or liquid fertilizer; tie, bunch, wrap, and pack trees and shrubs to fill orders and load onto trucks; in a greenhouse, or in an outdoor production. Duties and Responsibilities Preparing soil. Planting, pruning, cutting, deadheading, pinching and trimming to shape. Spacing plants. Fertilizing with granular or liquid fertilizer. Shipping products. Cleaning work areas. Transporting plant materials in the greenhouse areas. Loading and unloading plants using small farm equipment. Unloading and restocking for storage. Filling flats with potting soil in preparation for planting. Planting plugs or seedlings into flats. Tagging planted flats with appropriate picture tags. Watering flats by hand and placing them in the growing area for finishing. Filling pots/baskets with potting soil in preparation for planting. Planting one or more transplants in each container as specified by supervisor. Watering and placing finished containers in the growing area. Installing hangers and tags on pots or baskets. Installing watering tubes into containers to facilitate the irrigation process. Performing all other duties associated with a commercial greenhouse. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, kneeling, and pulling. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods. Must be able to pull, carry and lift 5 pounds or more at a time up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
