Administrative and Business Intern

and the job listing Expires on June 27, 2026 Position Overview The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Administrative & Business Intern to join our team this summer. This internship offers hands‑on experience in nonprofit administration, community philanthropy, office operations, and professional communication within a collaborative and community-focused foundation environment. This role is ideal for a student interested in business administration, nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or community engagement who is eager to gain real‑world professional experience while supporting meaningful work in the Fredericksburg region. The intern will work closely with the administrative team while also assisting the programs department with day‑to‑day operational and organizational support. Location & Schedule Location: On‑site in Fredericksburg, Virginia Schedule: Tuesday–Thursday | 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Expected Start Date: June 8, 2026 Duration: Minimum 8-week commitment (120 hours minimum) Compensation $20/hour Key Responsibilities Administrative & Office Support Scan, organize, and digitally file confidential and official foundation documents, including fund agreements, financial records, and donor‑related materials. Maintain accurate electronic and physical filing systems. Assist with front desk coverage and daily office operations. Welcome donors, nonprofit partners, board members, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner. Answer and route incoming phone calls and general inquiries. Support scheduling, meeting preparation, and administrative coordination as needed. Programs & Team Support Provide administrative assistance to the programs department. Assist with event preparation, materials organization, and program logistics. Participate in team meetings and collaborative projects across departments. Qualifications Required Qualifications Incoming freshman or currently enrolled in an undergraduate program. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Self‑motivated, dependable, and eager to learn. Interest in nonprofit work, philanthropy, or community engagement. Preferred Qualifications Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, or related majors preferred. Prior office, administrative, marketing, or internship experience is a plus. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in Canva, social media platforms, content creation, or basic marketing and communications support. All majors are welcome to apply. Interns will: Be paired with a dedicated staff mentor for guidance and support. Gain hands‑on experience in nonprofit administration and community philanthropy. Opportunities may be available to assist with communications, marketing, and community outreach projects based on interest and organizational needs. Participate in planning discussions related to upcoming foundation programs and initiatives. Develop professional communication, organizational, and office management skills.
