About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele/PCU Float Pool Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - At least 1 year of experience in a PCU setting - Ability to titrate drips, including but not limited to Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin Description: Unit prescreening and manager review are required. Clinician must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing the contract. If the clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, they will be disqualified for six months. Candidates must reside outside a specified radius and cannot have been employed with any related facilities in the past year. The float pool covers various units, including MedSurg, Tele, and PCU. Inpatient holds may occur in the emergency department. Average census for units varies. Nurse-to-patient ratios are PCU 1:4 and MedSurg Tele 1:5-6. Geriatric and orthopedic patients are commonly encountered, including post-procedural care. Charge nurses will have no patient assignments. Nurse assistants will be utilized across all settings. Respiratory equipment available may include CPAP and BiPAP. Monitoring techs supervise the PCU and MedSurge Tele units. Nurses are required to interpret telemetry strips. Scheduling will be handled by the staffing office with notification two hours before the start of shifts. Navy scrubs are required as per guidelines. Orientation consists of general hospital training followed by specific unit orientation. Four shifts may be canceled per contract. Eligible travelers will be included in the permanent staff rotation for weekends and holidays.
