Position Overview

Holy Spirit School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Classroom Teacher who is committed to fostering academic excellence, faith formation, and the development of the whole child. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and engaging classroom environment that supports students academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

The teacher will demonstrate a strong understanding of the Science of Reading and implement research-based literacy practices to support student growth and achievement. Familiarity with i-Ready diagnostic assessments and the use of data to guide instruction and differentiation is highly valued. Candidates should be skilled in designing meaningful, hands-on, and project-based learning experiences that encourage creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and student engagement.

Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the teacher will work closely with students, families, colleagues, and school leadership to support student success. The ideal candidate is organized, reflective, flexible, and committed to ongoing professional growth while contributing positively to the school community and mission of Catholic education.

Responsibilities:

Implement lesson plans aligned with New York State learning standards

Provide instruction in core subject areas

Utilize classroom technology and educational programs such as i-Ready

Maintain classroom routines and a structured learning environment

Communicate effectively with administration, faculty, and families as needed

Support Holy Spirit School’s mission of faith, kindness, and academic excellence

Supervise students and ensure a safe and respectful classroom community

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required (Master's Degree preferred)

NYS Teaching Certification preferred

Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred

Strong classroom management and communication skills

Commitment to supporting the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally

Willingness to support and uphold the values of Catholic education
