Supervisor Diagnostic Imaging - Woodlands

The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical and operational activities of a Diagnostic Imaging section at the Woodlands location. This role provides direct leadership to technical and clinical staff, ensures safe and high-quality patient care, manages workflow and productivity, and supports strategic, financial, and quality initiatives aligned with MD Anderson's mission and values.

*Location/Shift /Hours:*Woodlands /Wednesday through Saturday (Wednesday - Friday 930am - 8 pm; Saturday 7 am - 530pm

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Operations & Patient Care

• Supervise daily imaging operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care

• Resolve clinical, operational, and patient care issues within scope of practice

• Perform and oversee patient care activities as appropriate, including assessments, IV insertion, POCT, contrast administration, patient education, and transport

• Ensure compliance with patient safety protocols, infection control standards, HIPAA requirements, and age-specific care standards

• Identify patient distress and coordinate emergency responses (e.g., MERIT, Code Blue, DIURT)

• Maintain strict access control to clinical areas and ensure accurate patient screening, including implanted device clearance

• Collaborate with radiologists regarding critical findings and urgent clinical needs

• Ensure cleanliness, supply management, radioactive material handling, and environmental safety within all imaging and patient care areas

• Travel to and support off-site regional imaging facilities as needed

Leadership, Operations & Strategic Alignment

• Lead and support a multidisciplinary imaging team to maximize productivity, patient flow, and on-time starts

• Develop staff schedules aligned with clinic and patient needs, including off-shift coverage and emergency ride-out teams

• Lead daily huddles, staff meetings, and chair section events; provide shift reports and follow-up

• Coach, mentor, and develop technologists, students, and staff; ensure timely evaluations and ongoing performance feedback

• Monitor Kronos timekeeping and ensure compliance with staffing and labor standards

• Participate in and lead quality improvement initiatives focused on workflow efficiency, patient experience, and Press Ganey results

• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, ACR accreditation standards, and federal/state regulatory requirements

• Maintain and monitor required licensure and certifications for self and staff

• Support policy and procedure development and change management initiatives

• Document and escalate incidents, variances, and patient concerns in a timely manner

Technical & Imaging Expertise

• Maintain technical proficiency across assigned imaging modalities, including routine, advanced, inpatient, and on-call procedures

• Ensure accurate patient positioning, imaging protocols, annotations, and image quality

• Oversee image transfer to PACS and data accuracy in RIS and other clinical systems

• Monitor productivity benchmarks, error rates, and quality assurance metrics

• Supervise equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, quality control activities, and coordination with engineering and physics teams

• Maintain knowledge of billing, coding, compliance standards, CPT/ICD guidelines, and charge capture processes

EDUCATION

• Required: Graduate of a Radiology Technology, Ultrasound Technology, or Nuclear Medicine Technology program. or

• Required: Associate's Degree Applied Science degree.

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Required: 2 years Experience as a Registered Technologist. and

• Required: 1 year Lead/supervisory experience.

• Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Required: CMRT - Cert Medical Radiologic Tech Licensure by the Texas Medical Board (TMB). Upon Hire and

• Required: ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). Upon Hire or

• Required: NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB). Upon Hire or

• Required: ARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography Registration by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Upon Hire

• Preferred: Certified/registered in respective modality. Upon Hire

• Preferred: CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire
