Overview The Juvenile Justice (JJ) Youth Mentor provides mentoring services on weeknights, weekends, and weekend evenings to moderate and high‑risk youth and families to support youth’s efforts in successfully completing their probationary period and reducing recidivism by providing academic support, emotional development, and opportunities for pro‑social activities and pro‑social peer engagement. In this role, the JJ Youth Mentor works closely with youth and families involved with Tarrant County Juvenile Services (TCJS) and other team members, maintains frequent communication with the youth probation officer (as necessary) and provides written monthly updates about the youth’s progress and the services they are receiving. Individualized, trauma‑informed, culturally and linguistically competent community‑based services are provided to the individuals we serve. Responsibilities Provide mentoring services on weeknights, weekends, and weekend evenings. Support youth in completing their probationary period and reducing recidivism. Offer academic support, emotional development, and opportunities for pro‑social activities. Collaborate with TCJS staff, youth probation officers, and other team members. Maintain frequent communication and submit monthly progress updates. Deliver individualized, trauma‑informed, culturally and linguistically competent community‑based services. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Preferences Lived experience navigating the juvenile justice system. Bilingual in Spanish. Other unique skill sets and varied educational levels are preferred. License/Certifications Valid Texas Driver’s License. Benefits Retirement plan with company matching.
