Salary for Attendants: $16.00/hour during your 90-day introductory period, with an increase at your 90-day review

Shift Type: All shifts available — day, evening, overnight, and weekend, full time and part time

In Oklahoma this position is titled Attendant. It is the same work most people know as caregiving. We are a licensed Oklahoma home care agency, and our Durant office serves Durant, Colbert, and Calera.

You do not need to be a certified nurse aide. Our supervising registered nurse writes your training plan and you demonstrate each skill to that nurse before you work on your own. After that, our nurse visits you in the client's home at least every three months, and sooner if a client's condition changes significantly.

Responsibilities and Duties of Attendants:

In this role, you will have the chance to perform personal care activities that assist the client with activities of daily living, which include (but are not limited to):

• Assisting with transferring/moving client from place to place throughout their home, along with positioning and support with walking

• Bathing/Showering/Dressing/Shaving, plus grooming, oral care, and skin care

• Assisting with toileting and incontinence care

• Performing housekeeping activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning the bathroom

• Preparing meals and snacks according to instructions and the client's diet and preferences, and helping with eating when needed

• Accompanying client on errands or medical appointments, and shopping for groceries, using your own insured vehicle

• Medication reminders for medications the client takes on their own

• Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises

• Dementia care

• Companionship activities such as reading, music, puzzles, etc.

• Documenting your care in our electronic record and clocking in and out from your phone

• Noticing and reporting changes in a client's condition or home to the office right away

Qualifications and Skills of Attendants:

• 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the United States

• High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate preferred

• Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs without assistance and assist with client transfers; comfortable with prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job

• Possess a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance, with coverage in your name or as a named driver on the policy

• A working mobile phone with text and data — this is how you clock in and how we reach you

• Consent to fingerprinting and clear an Oklahoma criminal history background check through the Oklahoma National Background Check Program (OK-SCREEN, which runs both OSBI and FBI checks), with no disqualifying criminal history under the Long-Term Care Security Act

• Clear the Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry and the Community Services Worker Registry

• A negative tuberculosis test, or documentation of a negative test within the past 12 months, before your first client shift

• Pass a drug screen. Right at Home is a drug-free workplace. Oklahoma testing is conducted under the state Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act, and direct care staff are also subject to random, for-cause, and post-accident testing after hire

• Complete a written training plan from our supervising registered nurse and demonstrate competency to that nurse

• 6 months to 1-year experience preferred. If you have the right heart and no experience, tell us. We train.

• Current CPR certification preferred but not required at hire — and we reimburse the class

A note on background checks: Oklahoma allows a limited period of provisional employment — up to 60 days — under direct on-site supervision while your fingerprint background check is completed, once your registry screenings are clear and you have signed the required affirmation.
