HVAC Mechanic

Position Summary This maintenance role requires HVAC technicians to manage system maintenance across multiple buildings. Technicians must possess a broad technical knowledge across the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and digital domains, and understand boiler theory, chiller theory, thermodynamics, and related auxiliary subsystems such as air coils and heat exchangers. The position requires a Universal Technician license approved by EPA for refrigerant reclamation and maintenance of pressurized air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems, as well as a valid driver’s license. Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems. Knowledge of Automated Logic Corporation Controls (ALC). Work Schedule and Hours Typical work hours are Monday–Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with scheduled pager on‑call duties. Employees must be able to respond to UNC Asheville within 30 minutes while carrying their on‑call beeper. Occasional overtime on evenings and weekends may be required.
