REG. POLYSOMNOGRAP. TECHNOLOGIST - SLEEP LAB - 10650 Allied Health and Rehabilitation Services | PRN - As Needed Posted a year ago Description Status: PRN - As Needed Shift: As needed M-F 5:30pm - 6:30am Exempt: No Summary General A Registered Polysomnographic Technologist has learned all skills necessary to perform as a Sleep Technologist in routine testing. Must be able to independently prepare patients, conduct routine PSG recordings and collect all information pertinent to the interpretation of these tests. Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for the continued learning and performance of Sleep procedures according to the established policies of the department and North Oaks Health System. All responsibilities below will be performed in a manner that promotes and maintains a positive community and professional image for the department and hospital. The direct patient care provided in this position must demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the lifespan, assess patient data, interpret information and provide care as described in the department policies and procedures. Each activity will be conducted safely, preventing injury to the employee. Other Information Previous experience preferred. Louisiana License Polysomnographic Technologist or Louisiana License Respiratory Therapist. Specialized or technical education required: Registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT). Competed BCLS certification. Desire to acquire and use new skills. Maturity and ability to establish good rapport with patients, the public and staff. Interacts well with severely ill or “difficult” patients, including children. High degree of leadership, organizational and teaching skills. Responsibilities Mission Enhancement: Demonstrates behaviors that reflect understanding and support of the organizational values and mission; understands corporate goals and objectives and collaborates with all levels of management within Diagnostic Services, promotes actions following the 4C’s mentality. Competency & Job Knowledge: Performs all exams within licensed scope, including polysomnography, out‑of‑center sleep testing (OCST), positive airway pressure titration, supplemental low‑flow oxygen therapy, capnography, CPR, pulse oximetry, pH probe placement and monitoring, esophageal pressure, sleep staging, surface EMG, ECG, respiratory effort monitoring, plethysmography, airflow monitoring, body temperature, audio/video monitoring, PA and oral appliance monitoring, data analysis and scoring, patient DME provision, patient education, clinical event documentation, equipment use, quality control, and related duties. Quality & Safety: Supports quality improvement initiatives, maintains confidentiality, responds to emergencies, administers first aid/CPR, and promotes patient safety. Teamwork & Leadership: Works effectively as a team member, maintains a positive attitude, treats all with respect, leads by example, communicates clearly, fosters interdisciplinary relationships, trains new staff, solves problems, and presents findings. Policies & Procedures: Adheres to hospital policies on attendance, dress code, infection control, environmental standards; completes mandatory education; performs safety inspections; follows regulatory guidelines. Departmental Workflow: Maintains workflow efficiency, manages equipment, coordinates patient care, ensures inventory management, and supports laboratory procedures. Customer Relations: Maintains respectful communication with patients, volunteers, students, and department staff; provides patient education; ensures client satisfaction; follows HIPAA and confidentiality. Other Duties: Conducts pre‑test calibration, maintains confidentiality, performs technical notes, participates in quality control, continues education, and performs all other duties as assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr
