This role gives you the autonomy to manage complex technical repairs while directly supporting structural steel projects that shape Southern New England. You will work in an environment that values your technical expertise, offering direct support from a leadership team dedicated to your long-term professional growth. \n \n How You Will Make an Impact \n \n Diagnosed complex mechanical failures on diverse fleet vehicles to minimize operational downtime. \n Repaired advanced hydraulic systems and heavy-duty air brakes to ensure maximum field safety. \n Maintained accurate maintenance records and inspection logs for regulatory compliance and safety tracking. \n Coordinated with project managers to schedule preventive maintenance around critical steel erection timelines. \n Overhauled aging equipment components to extend asset life cycles and optimize operational efficiency. \n Executed real-time emergency field repairs to keep active structural steel installations moving forward. \n \n \n Required Qualifications & Experience \n \n Proven professional experience working as a Diesel Mechanic on heavy equipment or commercial fleets. \n Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with complex hydraulic systems. \n Demonstrated technical proficiency in repairing, diagnosing, and servicing heavy-duty air brake systems. \n Capability to interpret technical manuals, fluid schematics, and mechanical blueprints independently. \n \n \n Preferred Qualifications & Experience \n \n Formal technical training or completion of an apprenticeship program focused on diesel mechanics. \n Previous experience maintaining machinery specifically used in structural steel or industrial construction. \n Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior shop helpers or mechanics in safety practices. \n \n \n Compensation & Benefits \n \n Competitive hourly wage of $35–$40+/hr. \n Performance Bonuses available. \n Stipend for medical coverage. \n Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement. \n Per diem provided for travel. \n Bi-weekly pay schedule. \n Long-term, full-time opportunity in a high-demand skill trade. \n \n \n About Us \n At JWC Steel Co., we specialize in structural steel and miscellaneous metals for commercial and industrial projects across Southern New England.
