LPN Opportunity At Virginia Oncology AssociatesVirginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for an LPN to support our offices located in Norfolk.Employment Type: Full TimeBenefits: M/D/V, Life Ins., 401(k)Compensation Range: $19.50 - $46.20. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.ResponsibilitiesAssist with injections, pap smears, biopsies, and LEEP procedures.Prep lab specimens for send out.Assess patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans.Set up procedures (i.e. port placement and blood transfusion), referrals, and obtain prior authorization.Obtain pathology reports, manage faxes, and return emergent and non-emergent patient phone calls.Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow.Documents all elements of care.Serve as a resource to the Medical Assistants.Communicate all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician, nurse, or advanced practice providerAssess patient and family needs.Complete new patient chart prep for physician team ensuring all elements of the patients work up is available to for review upon first appointment with providerMonitor the navigating care tickets and prescription refill lineQualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.Minimum of two years-experience as a practical nurse in a hospital or clinic setting preferred but not required.Current CPR certification required.Must be willing to travel between offices when needed.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
