Associate Community Banker

Job Summary The Community Banker delivers personalized client service by holding financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine their needs and provide appropriate solutions. This position is responsible for maintaining client relationships, emphasizing First Interstate Bank's Service Commitments and our vision and values. Core Responsibilities Delivers personalized client service in person and over the phone by answering questions, assisting with issues, and offering solutions. Opens and maintains a variety of products, including consumer and business checking and savings accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, and consumer and small business credit cards. Processes new consumer loan requests; may also engage in conversations or process new small business loan requests. Identifies referral opportunities to other lines of business—including but not limited to Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, Business Banking, and Wealth Management—and consistently utilizes 360 View to document referrals and other client activity. Builds client relationships through outbound outreach and proactive engagement. Performs teller duties as needed, conducting financial transactions such as check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and accurately counting currency and coin. Completes work accurately with minimal errors. Participates in volunteer activities and financial education efforts. Stays current on regulatory changes and demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned job functions. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. 1-3 years of banking or related experience required. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Makes confident, clear, and friendly client interactions with tact and diplomacy. Proficient in personal computers, Microsoft Office, 10-key skills, digital platforms, CRM systems, and emerging technologies. Comfortable reading and writing simple correspondence and presenting information to clients and employees. Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, compute rates and percentages, and interpret simple graphs. Problem-solving skills for standardized situations with concrete variables. Abilities to complete work on time, adjust to changing demands, and produce accurate results with pride and professionalism. Initiative, positive example for others, and strong conversational ability to understand client needs and originate personal loans. Compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and related regulations is required. Employment contingent upon background investigation and acceptable results.
