Ballot by Mail Clerk – Temporary Assignment Election Support, Data Entry & Administrative Operations

Openwork is hiring dependable and detail-oriented Ballot by Mail Clerks to support election operations in Houston, TX 77032.

This temporary position focuses on processing mail-in ballots, entering and verifying data, preparing election materials, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualified candidates should have strong attention to detail, basic computer skills, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently. Candidates must also meet all eligibility requirements to register to vote in Texas.

• Location : Houston, TX 77032

• Pay : $17/hr

• Schedule : Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

• Employment : Full-Time | Temporary Assignment

• Assignment End Date : November 13, 2026

• Overtime : Extended hours and weekends as required during election periods

• Work Setting : Office and warehouse environments

• Process and prepare Ballot by Mail (BBM) materials

• Enter and update information in election databases

• Scan, image, and organize election documents

• Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and administrative records

• Assist with filing and storing election documents

• Review forms and records for accuracy and completeness

• Support compliance with Texas Election Code requirements

• Assist with election supply distribution and returns

• Process election-related correspondence and applications

• Support mail processing, data entry, and other BBM operations

• Assist other election teams as needed

• Follow established election procedures and confidentiality guidelines

• Must meet all eligibility requirements to register to vote in Texas

• High school diploma or GED required

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Basic computer, data entry, and document processing skills

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Strong customer service and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Ability to learn new procedures and computer systems

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to manage changing priorities and deadlines

• Flexible and willing to assist with different assignments

• Availability for overtime and weekends as required

• Some college education preferred

• Previous election or ballot processing experience preferred

• Professional office and warehouse environments

• Regular computer work, data entry, and document handling

• Filing, scanning, sorting, and organizing election materials

• Occasional lifting and carrying of 10–30 lbs.

• May require extended periods of standing

• Ability to work efficiently during busy election periods

• Follow workplace safety and election procedures

• $17 per hour

• Full-time, temporary assignment

• Consistent Monday–Friday schedule, with overtime as required

• Opportunity to support Harris County election operations
