Urgent Care Physician

Location Geisinger Primary Care Tunkhannock, PA Job Summary Geisinger is seeking a full-time physician to join our newest ConvenientCare+ urgent care clinic at Geisinger Tunkhannock in beautiful Tunkhannock, PA. Job Duties Provide patient care as an alternative to the Emergency Department when prompt intervention is needed for worsening illness or exacerbation of a chronic condition. Treat acute conditions including cellulitis, pneumonia, allergic reactions, atrial fibrillation, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension, migraines, head/neck pain, etc. Manage treatments such as nebulizer therapy, diuresis (IV), hydration (IV), correction of electrolyte abnormalities (e.g., hyponatremia, hyperkalemia), IV antibiotic therapy, antihistamine therapy for allergic reactions without airway concern, rate control for atrial fibrillation, anti‑hypertensive medications, and other acuity‑appropriate therapies. Hours Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday - Sunday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Clinical Requirement 1,752 hours per year (approx. 146 hours per month). Shifts 12‑hour shifts Monday–Friday; 9‑hour shifts Saturday–Sunday. Support Staff Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, RNs (available all hours of operation), Phlebomoy, Radiology Techs. Exam Rooms & Equipment 6 exam rooms. Electronic Health Record: Epic. Telemedicine carts, negative pressure rooms, continuous vital‑sign monitoring. Diagnostics: X‑Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI; laboratory and imaging studies onsite. Position Details The successful candidate will be trained in family medicine or emergency medicine residency and have a passion for urgent care medicine. Education Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine – Required . Licensure & Certification Licensed Medical Doctor – State of Pennsylvania. Skills Patient care and procedural skills, professional etiquette, systems‑based practice.
