Job Summary Provide radiology services to patients in accordance with physician orders, ensuring patient safety and delivering high‑quality imaging. Prepare radiology rooms, maintain supply levels, and ensure diagnostic equipment operates within manufacturer specifications and safety standards. Exercise professional judgment in diagnostic services and maintain a courteous, respectful demeanor at all times. Uphold strict patient and staff confidentiality. Essential Responsibilities Perform general radiographic and specialty imaging using clinical protocols. Position patients to best demonstrate anatomical areas of interest while respecting comfort and ability. Execute procedures within proper radiographic techniques and evaluate images for technical quality. Provide patient education across all age groups, including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics. Communicate with physicians regarding discrepancies and adhere to radiology policies for order changes. Follow Unified Protective Equipment, Universal Precautions, Medical Waste, Infection Control, and OSHA safety policies. Accurately input patient information into the electronic medical record and Radiology Information System (RIS). Identify patients according to organizational policy and observe them throughout procedures, reporting any changes in condition. Manage allergy status and react appropriately to contrast reactions per manual guidelines. Deliver timely, friendly service to patients, physicians, and staff, informing them of delays and progress. Promote patient‑focused care, including preparation, scheduling, exam description, pain expectation, and procedural teaching. Maintain safe radiation levels to minimize exposure, performing required equipment checks before use. Adhere to radiation safety rules and conduct quality assurance, control, and safety activities as appropriate. Arrive at the start of the assigned shift ready to work, take scheduled breaks, and depart at shift end. Maintain a neat, clean, and stocked radiology room. Assist lead technologists with new employee training, orientation, training issue identification, workflow monitoring, task assignment, and operational policy development. Communicate concerns to lead technologists and management in a professional manner. Collaborate effectively with colleagues both on‑site and off‑site to perform radiological procedures efficiently. Rotate shifts and assignments as required, including surgery and portable duties for specialty and hospital staff. Basic Qualifications Graduate of an approved accredited radiologic technology program by hire date. Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington) required at hire. Basic Life Support certification required at hire. Additional Requirements Consistently demonstrates knowledge and expertise in performing required procedures and exams. Shows strong communication and problem‑solving skills to work effectively with physicians, customers, and co‑workers. Works well as a team member with providers throughout the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington organization. Is very knowledgeable about and diligently follows radiation safety, safety precautions, and infection control practices. Demonstrates a strong commitment to excellent customer service. Supports the KFHPW strategy and mission statement. Communicates effectively with all populations, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
