Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Critical Care

 This contract, on-site position offers an excellent opportunity to provide essential medical care within the Medical Practice industry, working directly with patients in a critical care setting.

As a Locum Critical Care Physician, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill patients. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to manage complex medical conditions, perform necessary procedures, and ensure the best possible outcomes for patients in intensive care units.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to critically ill patients in an on-site intensive care setting
• Perform patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and formulate treatment plans
• Manage mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and other critical care interventions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, specialists, and allied health professionals
• Document patient care accurately and timely in electronic medical records
• Respond to emergency situations and provide stabilization as needed
• Communicate effectively with patients' families regarding prognosis and care plans
• Adhere to all hospital protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits
• Stay current with advancements in critical care medicine through continuing education
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees as appropriate

Requirements

• MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Osteopathic Doctor) degree from an accredited institution
• Current valid medical license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction
• Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine
• Associate-level experience in critical care or acute care settings
• Proficiency in managing critically ill patients, including ventilator management and advanced life support
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site hospital environment
• Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required for a locum contract

Schedule: 24-hour shifts (7a-7p, on call 7p-7a)

Setting: 100% inpatient

Daily Volume: 6-8 patients

Required Procedures: Central lines, arterial lines, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and chest tube insertion

Will be working independently

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified

DEA and CSR required

Must have critical care/ICU experience

Paid travel & expenses
